Cookie Fail!

Cookies just have no hope in my home...
I just don't have the cookie thumb.

Why oh why did they have to die :(
We even followed directions...
and this is what happened.
I give up...
I will just have to leave the cookie cooking
to the bakers from now on.

My Fab Friday Finds...

I went to Goodwill today to see what they had and was so excited to find a few things!
Usually, I go and get caught in a mental block, but I found some fun items that I can make something out of.

I found a basket that I think I am going to use in the boys' bathroom,
but I think I want to paint it first...

I may also redo the handle so it will lay down to the side
because it just looks weird sticking straight up...

I liked it because it's wide and deep.
I think it would be perfect for holding toilet paper or rolled towels.

I also found a cute cage-looking thing that I am going to paint white and distress
to give it an older look.

It has some grass in it already and I don't know what I am going to do with it...

keep it...throw it out...?

I was really excited to find these two white shelves that are just so shabby chic

I think I might put them in the boys' bathroom as well...
I love the scalloped edges...very cute and classy!

I also found this round copper pot.
I thought it might be cute hanging on the porch.

I am thinking about antiquing an old diningroom chair that I have in the garage,
and using it on the porch.
I am going to hang the pot above it...

sideways pictures are cool right? :)
The only dilemma holding me back is the fact that we are saving up for our Disney vacation,
so all of my projects are on hold until we get back and have some money.

BOOOOO for no money!
YAAAAA for vaca in Disney!

What SONG Are You????

You can't deny that this is one of the...

BEST SONGS EVER!!!

The one song that makes me really want to learn...
 how to play the piano.

You just have to listen to it at least a million times...
and sing along :)

This will definitely be on my music list for the drive to Disney in a few months

Link up with Goodnight Moon for even more songs to brighten your day :)

Craft Shopping and Maybe Making...

I have been so busy lately that I haven't even bothered to think about what to talk about on my next post.
I have a lot of things to say, but they are so random....much like my mind...

This Sunday is the first day of spring!  I will be so happy to get rid of all of those snow-filled cold days of winter and move on to warm sunny days.  I so love the warm weather, especially when you take a step outside and feel the instant enveloping warmth that covers you from head to toe.  *ahhhh*  I love how the landscape progresses from a stark wasteland of dark browns and grays into a vast array of greens, reds, oranges, yellows and every other color under the sun.  The smell of freshly cut grass and the sounds of the crickets at night are just so relaxing.  I believe spring is the best time of year!

With the coming of a new season, I have been searching blogs to try to find creative crafts to work on and I have found a few that I am dying to make, and I swear, I WILL MAKE THEM!

Here are a few projects I want to work on...

When some people look at an ugly lamp, they see the beauty that can be made from it.
When I see an ugly lamp....I see an ugly lamp.

I found this lamp over at Cottage Hill and just fell in love with it!  It is so my style and the colors are perfect for my house and talk about so easy to make!  I just wish that when I went to Goodwill or garage sales that I would have that creative eye, but now that I have somewhat of an idea of what I can do,
I am looking for an ugly lamp to make into something beautiful and special.

I found this Spring Easter Wreath over at A Diamond in the Stuff and I really really want to make it.
So adorable and so cheap, though it looks like it cost a pretty penny!

Here is a sewing project that is perfect for me...very very easy....

I found it over at some sort of French blogger site.
Again, the original is ugly...very ugly!

It starts out with a tacky ugly old lady wool skirt

and turns into an adorably wonderful sweater!
Yes, it's a sweater and I don't really need one until at least October, but I guess I have plenty of time!!!

I may be getting myself into trouble surfing the blogosphere for easy and absolutely adorable craft projects because there are so many out there and I want to make every one of them,
but I guess my excuse could be that they are cheaper to make than to buy...right?

Next blog update???  Maybe I will have actually done one of these and can show you....

Use Your Time Wisely

We all have time in our lives, lots of it, and we all spend our time differently.  There are a lot of things I like to do and a lot of things that I want to do, but the thing that I like most of all?
I LOVE to spend time with my kids.

Whether it is watching this guy's crazy antics before bedtime:
Mr. Spongebob Squarepants
Watching these guys while we are just hanging out
Woody and Buzz Lightyear
Or watching our new favorite, Open Season 3:
But I love just sitting and talking and letting them teach me about creativity, imagination and the joyful feelings of learning something new.

I like to spend time with all of my kids together AND seperately.

Last week, I spent a while with my oldest doing his thing,
coloring...
This is a great way to hang out with him, because he just opens up and talks about everything while he is getting his creative on.  He will just talk and talk and talk and I will just listen and watch him excitedly tell me the stories of what happened at school today, what he did at grandma's
or what he learned from a friend the other day at church.
He has such a great imagination and is, I think, a wonderful artist.  I love spending time with C because he always teaches me something new about his amazingly creative world.
Here, he was probably telling me about Queen Amidala or giving me some insight into his favorite episode of Total Drama World Tour.  He is always writing stories or keeping picture books that he has drawn and I cannot wait to show them to him when he is older and has forgotten about all of his accounts of life as a child.

His stories are fascinating and I hope they stick with him forever!

By the way, we were using
They aren't the cheapest marker set out there, but we probably paid half price or less because I always stock up on this stuff at sales, especially the day after Thanksgiving and we ask for them for Christmas presents when we don't know what else to ask for.  (My kids are spoiled and have about everything else).  Believe me, in this house, it is money well spent because my kids use the heck out of markers and crayons.  I have 3 amazing artists!  I also love the fact that, since I have a 2-year-old who absolutely LOVES to draw on anything he can reach, he cannot get these markers and color all over everything.

That's C's picture.
He drew a beanstalk up to the skies and fairies.
We had just watched Tinkerbell on the Disney channel...have no clue where the beanstalk comes in.

This is my picture.
I drew a huge flower with a purple pig or donkey...can't really tell.

We had a lot of fun talking and coloring and I can't wait until tomorrow when we can hang out again!
My challenge for you, if you don't already partake in your childs time,
spend some time with our baby and see how wonderful it makes you feel.
Maybe you will learn something new about him or her and see a different side of that angel you helped God bring into this world
Until next time my friends, C and I bid you adieu until next time :)

UGH! That Just Totally Irks Me!!! (this may offend some or all. read at your own risk)

This week has been stressful for me and when I get stressed, my Lupus flares up and my jaw clamps down (at least it has this week).  I am tired, I am achy and my hair falls out all over the place.  So, since I am really irritated I decided to jot down a few things that Totally Irk Me:

It irks me when...my kids talk back to me, especially when it makes no sense.  Like when I say, "go to bed," and they reply "YOU'RE in bed!"  Okay, what does that mean?

It irks me when...people who say they will help and then either back out or gripe and complain about having to help me out.  If you don't want to help, then don't even offer because I can find someone else who cares more.

It irks me when...people who pick favorites.  This one I really can not stand.  I have 3 kids and love them all for the many things they bring to my life and the world.  A parent who has a favorite child is just way too sick to me to even deal with.  Ugh, and then they play the whole "I don't have a favorite" card.  Okay, we are not all stupid, we can tell you have a favorite my dear.

It irks me when...people expect to get everything for free or think they deserve anything and everything they want.  I work hard yet I can't play hard so why do you have the right to if you can't afford it? Gee, I love paying for it when at the end of the year when you get your huge tax check or when you file for bankruptcy.

It irks me when...people try to tell me how to raise my kids.  I have been doing it for 8 years so I think I have experience and what makes you think you can do any better?  I have seen your kids...

It irks me when...your doctor won't give you meds when you need them since he totally knows you *sarcasm* when he sees you maybe once a year.  I go in for headaches and a horrible rash and he tells me I need to see a therapist...Yeah, in the next month, I was diagnosed with both TMJ and Lupus...don't really think a therapist can help me either one my friend.  I just wish docs would listen to you and realize that you know what you need.

It irks me when...you work your butt off to lose weight and your scale still says the same thing it did a month ago.  WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT ABOUT!?

It irks me when...I am not hungry one minute and the next minute I am gnawing at the bone to have a whole flipping cake, yet, I'm not hungry!

It irks me when...people take advantage of others not even putting the other person's life or needs up for consideration.  Uh, you didn't work for that so don't try to get someone else to work hard for it for you while you just sit back and reap all the rewards.  Have some morals...

It irks me when...people who don't spend time with their kids or spend more time away from their kids then they actually spend WITH their kids.  If you didn't want to be with your child, then why did you have the child in the first place.

Wow, and that's probably not even half of my irks, but after looking at my long list, I decided to turn to the trusted Bible and found a few passages that would help me out in my many times of irkness...

Matthew 6:27-29
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.

Proverbs 12:25
Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.

Matthew 6:30
And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

Philippians 4:6-7
Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:25
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life-whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:31-33
So don't worry about these things, saying, 'What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

I guess those words were geared more toward worrying, but it also helps me feel better and less annoyed with those in the world.  BTW, this blog is not directed to any one person nessarily (or is it...hehehe) so don't take offense, and if you choose to do so, just read this list as a, "Do Not Do In The Presence Of Kristin" list :)

P.S. What are your irks?

Something else that irks me?  When I tell my husband not to ask me stupid questions and he says "You're a stupid question."  Okay, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?!?
